This kind of picture you can get in a starry night. Just fix your camera on a tripod, switch to the bulb function (if available) and expose. This image was taken during three hours. In those three hours, the stars went further on, because of the rotation of earth. The builing in the foreground is the Weikersheim observatory, in which I take my astronomic pictures. See the right above the tree, it is a meteor.

how come when I take shots over and over, some are brighter or darker than the rest? I have a Canon T3 Rebel EOS

love the combination of observatory with the star swirl...the color adds so much as well, the inclusion of the tree balances and grounds the horizon.
